Jen O'Connors was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She began working at her local hospital starting at age 16. Soon after, she attended Old Dominion University (ODU) where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After her time at ODU, she then worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Riverside Shore Memorial for 6 years while continuing her nursing education. She received her masters in critical care from ODU, and then returned for a post-master's certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Salisbury State University in Maryland.

Pediatrics is her passion. From the time she first became a nurse she always wanted to take care of children. Her first job as a Nurse Practitioner was in pediatrics and she has been working in pediatrics ever since. The thing she most enjoys about pediatrics is having the opportunity to get to know the children and their families and developing relationships with them. She enjoys being able to watch them grow up when they are healthy and help them when they are sick. Jen has 20 + years in the medical field.

She worked on the Eastern Shore until she got married in June of 2009 to her husband Phil, a Registered Nurse. They live in Suffolk. Jen has two sons, Cooper and Clay. Phil has two daughters, Katie and Cortney. Jen and Phil have one granddaughter.  Normally, Jen and Phil stay pretty busy with all of the kid's activities. When they do get free time they enjoy traveling and looking for new places to visit.

In 2013, Jen became a certified Lactation Consultant.  She strives to help new moms have a positive breastfeeding experience.

Jennifer O'Connor's clinical focus is on breastfeeding issues, newborn care, women's health issues, behavioral issues, asthma, and preventive care.
