She read to children with REACH (Reading Enriches All Children), and spent time teaching young people about their diabetes at Camp Jordan in Williamsburg, Virginia. In 2008, she received the Rubio-Koehl Resident Teaching Award.

Dr. Mangrum joined the family at Renaissance Pediatrics in July 2008. Her special interests include child safety, literacy, and preventive healthcare. She enjoys music, reading, crafts and spending time with family. She lives Suffolk with her high school sweetheart, who she married in 2001.
