Sandra Baucom MD, FAAP
I was born on April 22, 1956 in Whiteville, NC. I grew up in Fayetteville, NC and attended Wake Forest University. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology and French. During my Junior year, I lived in France and attended the University of Dijon. I entered medical school in 1978. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I was inducted into AOA, which is the medical school Honor Society for students in the top 10% of the class. I went to Little Rock Arkansas in July of 1982 to Arkansas Children's Hospital to do my residency training in Pediatrics. In July of 1985 I completed my training and moved back to North Carolina where I spent four years working in Columbus County to repay my National Health Service Scholarship.
I married my best friend on January 18, 1986 and we were blessed with twins in December of 1987 and our youngest child in May of 1989. I have been practicing Pediatrics in the Tidewater area since July of 1989. I am an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and a Family and Community Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School and have been honored to teach at Portsmouth Family Medicine for many years.
I opened Renaissance Pediatrics as a solo practice in January of 1995 with a goal to serve this community by providing high quality affordable pediatric care in an atmosphere where our patients would feel valued. I am the volunteer Medical Director for the Holiday House in Portsmouth. I love to scrapbook and I look forward to meeting you.
